I strongly believe that I was put on this earth to capture family memories one moment at a time so that those memories can be passed down for many future generations.

A little about me

Hello and thank you for stopping by my corner of the web. My name is Tara Ruby. I am deeply imbedded into the military life, being a military veteran, a military spouse and very soon a military mom. I love to capture anything for both our US Military and the many families within that community. I am honored to have been both published and award winning at both a National and an International level with my work. Competition is something I have grown very fond of, as it always challenges me to produce at a higher level than before.

I have worked to pioneer a style of family, newborn, maternity, breastfeeding and birth photography that earned awards from organizations such as the Wedding and Portrait Photographers International (WPPI), the Professional Photographers of America (PPA), The National Association of Professional Child Photographers (NAPCP) as well as within the Army community and more. Among hundreds of international publications, my photography has been shared on Facebook over 3.5 million times and featured in Vanity Fair, USA Today, Cosmopolitan, SELF Magazine, The Huffington Post, Time Magazine, and The Army Times and many more. Cosmopolitan magazine has called my work “stunning”, “powerful” and notes that my work caused “the internet to lose its collective mind”. I was also a finalist in Ron Howard’s Project Imaginat10n contest and was also featured in a full-feature documentary, Homecoming The Film.

I am a graduate of the New York Institute of Photography and I currently hold an Associate’s title with WPPI. I am also working towards my Certified Professional Photographers certification with PPA and my goal is to achieve this during this summer of 2017. I have also branched out into the world of speaking, and helping others as they walk along their individual paths in this world of small business management in the world of photography. I hope that you enjoy your visit here on my site, and please feel free to contact me if I can be of any assistance. Thank you.

There is nothing else like the feeling you get when you volunteer your talents to your community. I have enjoyed every minute of my time spent with these organizations. I have made so many friends from these adventures, friends that will be my friend for many years to come. I would urge everyone to spend a few hours spending time giving back. You will not regret it.

I enjoy competing on both a National and an International level with my photography. Not only does it let me know that I am producing above average portraits, it always pushes me to become a better photographer on a daily basis. I have competed with the Professional Photographers of America, the Wedding and Portraits Photographers International and the National Association of Professional Children Photographers. Here are my awards and titles to date.

I could not be the photographer that I am without the support and trust of some amazing companies. These companies have supported me and helped to make sure that every image and every print that I create is the best that it could possibly be. Go visit their websites and give them some love from me!

Just as important as my sponsors are the amazing vendors that I am honored to have created strong relationships with. A session is made 150% better by custom items that are provided by the men and women that can create items that are an artistic piece of work all by themselves. I tell everyone that the only limitation to the world of photography at this point is your imagination. If you can think of an idea, my vendors can work to bring your idea to fruition. I have spent the past few years establishing very strong bonds, and only purchase items from a limited amount of vendors. By doing this, I can provide and produce consistency throughout my portraits. Feel free to visit their pages, listed below, and give them plenty of love. Let them know I sent you!!
