WPPI was everything and more this year for me. I was able to sit through the entire judging of the newborn category as well as the children and contemporary portraits. I learn so much during this, as they judge the entries right there in front of you and you are able to hear the feedback from the judges as they critique every single entry.
My trip started with a Stroopwafel on my flight into Vegas. If you have never had one of these delicious items, you are missing out of something special!! Once I was settled into my room it was right into 2 days of judging, and it was totally worth every minute of it. Once judging was over, it was right into a 3 day trade expo, where I was able to meet new friends, reconnect with old ones and to enjoy networking within the community. I was able to hang with other Spider Holster ambassadors, and was able to meet both the president of Tamron and of 17hats, both of which sponsor me, my photography and my trip to WPPI!
If you have never attended, but you are planning to in the future, I would join that year’s WPPI Foodie FB group, as we all share the amazing restaurants visited during our stay. Bazaar Meat’s was by far my favorite, but I did find a little Mexican place at the Luxor that had the best Mexican corn I’ve ever had!!
The trip ended with the award ceremony, where I was able to watch Kelly Brown win numerous awards, and it was spectacular as she has been a mentor of mine for a long time. I also took home my Associate Title with WPPI. Now it’s on to my Masters next. I can do this, I’m ready! My trip back home was a sleepy one, which was probably induced by the mimosa before the plane took off. I am coming home refreshed, renewed and inspired to create some amazing images and to further my networking within this amazing community! Here are just a few of the many photos that were taken along the way this past week. Enjoy!!
